How do I find providers?

If you have support coordination in your plan, support coordinators can help you find the products and services that are reasonable and necessary for you to achieve your goals.

Soon you'll be able to find registered and non-registered providers on our NDIS emarket, which should be available in mid 2019. If you’re in Queensland or Western Australia, you can email us and we can help connect you before the marketplace is launched, just email hello@providerchoice.com.au.

Can I choose the services I want?

It's important to us that you have choice and control in the NDIS. You can choose the supports you want, as long as they're reasonable and necessary. By that we mean as long as they're fair and something you need. You'll talk with us to work this out.

What providers can I choose from?

If you self-manage, or use a plan manager you don't have to use registered providers. You can use providers that you have found yourself. Otherwise, you can find registered providers, which means providers that register with the NDIS and have chosen to provide services to participants regardless of how they manage their plan. Registered providers have also had to pass certain quality and safeguard requirements.

How do I create a service agreement with providers?

Once you've chosen who will provide your supports you may want to create a written service agreement. This will help make sure that you and your provider both know exactly how your supports will be given to you.

The key things to think about are:

  • how much will it cost? (n.b. if you agency or plan manage they will need to charge at or under the price cap)
  • what date does it start?
  • how often will i have it?
  • what date does it end?
  • what happens if I need to cancel? (do fees apply?)
  • how do we resolve issues if they arise?

We've made a simple service agreement check list that you might want to use. You'll need to add your own information into it but it's a good guide to help you get going. If you want a copy, email us at hello@providerchoice.com.au.

How do I change my service provider?

If you're not happy with your supports, you can change your service provider. When you made your service agreement you would've decided on a notice period, this is the time you have to give them to finish up, this will also give you time to find a new provider and make a new service agreement.

But if you have a serious reason you can end the agreement straight away.

What insurance do I need for the support workers I employ?

If you choose to employ your own staff and not use a service provider, then you must have a Workers Compensation Insurance Policy to protect your staff. You may want to have a Public Liability Insurance Policy. This may pay if your support workers have other accidents.

How is the NDIS helping people find the right assistive technology?

At Provider Choice we can help you find the right assistive technology or equipment for you by getting you the best information we have about different options. We can also put you in contact with local groups so you can talk to people in your community about their supports and experiences.

Is there a system to rate providers?

We are currently building a system to help you rate and provide feedback on providers. We will also let you share information and talk to other people about good and bad experiences as part of a community to help people out.
