NDIS Reform 2026: The Latest Government Announcement

A note from our CEO, Tom Blinksell.

Yesterday, Health Minister Mark Butler delivered a pre-budget speech outlining the government's plan to reform the NDIS. It's a big announcement, so we wanted to keep you updated.

The focus was on making the scheme more financially sustainable, tackling fraud and tightening up who delivers services and how. The areas getting the most attention include eligibility rules, plan spending and the importance of high-quality plan managers and support coordinators in the scheme.

Firstly, this is a policy announcement, not an implementation plan. Legislation will need to be introduced and the finer details worked through over the coming months and years. That said, we believe that any reform that reduces fraud, improves quality of care and ensures disability support is there for future generations is worth doing. We've spent almost a decade building our reputation as one of Australia's most trusted NDIS plan management providers, which is why ten's of thousands of families have put their faith in Provider Choice over the years.

"Nothing about us, without us" is the commitment the government made in yesterday's speech and it's one we stand behind too. As more detail comes through, we'll update you here.

In the meantime, if you have specific concerns about your plan, you can also reach out to your Local Area Coordinator or contact the NDIS directly on 1800 800 110.
