What plan management options are there?

How you manage your plan is up to you. You can choose to have your plan managed by:

  • yourself or a nominee,
  • the NDIA,
  • a plan management provider (ProviderChoice is a Plan Manager help people move to self- management),
  • or a combination.

At ProviderChoice we are a plan manager and can manage your plan if you live in Queensland. You can nominate us to be your plan manager when you meet your planner or once you receive your plan, to get in touch email hello@providerchoice.com.au. Unlike other plan managers we are looking to empower people by teaching them to self-manage.

Can I include Plan Management in my plan?

You can choose to have a plan management provider in your plan. A plan management provider is someone who is paid to be in charge of your supports. At ProviderChoice we are a plan manager and we can also help you to become self-managed over time so you can realise full choice and control over your NDIS plan.

How can I get help will self managing my supports?

If you choose to self manage at ProviderChoice we can give you information about what your responsibilities are. You can also use us as a plan management provider who can guide you into self managing your supports.

What is a self-managed plan?

A self-managed plan means you are in charge of organising and paying for the help that you get through your plan both products and services. You can pay them with your own money and then the NDIS will pay you back by putting money into your bank account, or you can put the invoice or payment type and amount in the portal and the NDIS put the money into your account for you to pay with. You can choose to self manage as many of your service providers as you want.

What are my responsibilities when I self-manage my plan?

If you choose to self-manage your plan, you'll need to:

  • choose your supports and make plans for how you'll use them
  • pay your providers
  • keep receipts when you pay your providers or buy supports
  • report back to NDIS on how you're spending your NDIS funds.

We’re building tools at the moment to help you self-manage more easily. But if you’d prefer to start with plan management we can manage your funds, paying your providers, and help teach you how to self-manage.
