Big or small, at Provider Choice we know that the right home or technology support can make a huge difference to everyday life. The NDIS has just made understanding them a little easier by releasing a new ‘Assistive Technology, Home Modifications and Consumables Guide’.
We’ve broken down the key updates below, so you know exactly what’s new and what it means for your plan.
Clearer item descriptions
Many of the support items have been rewritten with simpler, clearer explanations so it’s easier to understand what’s covered.
Instead of one big “home modifications” category, there are now more specific items like toilet replacements or cabinetry alterations.
This means less guesswork when planning or quoting for your home modifications.
A few new and updated supports
The NDIA has added a handful of new items (mainly smaller home modification supports) and refreshed some existing ones to reflect how people are using their funding today.
If you’re working with an OT, builder or AT provider, they’ll see these new codes when submitting quotes or claims.
Simpler rules for payments and claims
The guide also makes it clearer how providers can claim for these supports. For example, allowing staged payments for bigger home modifications, or subscriptions for certain assistive technologies.
These updates are designed to make the process smoother and fairer for both participants and providers.
What this means for you
You don’t need to take any action. These updates just make things clearer and simpler when claiming.
